Janet Frey

  Janet Ruth Frey, 58, Medford, beloved daughter, wife, mother and aunt, went home to be with her Lordon Sunday, July 31, 2005, at Memorial Health Center, Medford, following a brave eight-and-a-half year battle with cancer.

  Janet was born Aug. 38, 1946 in Medford, the daughter of Alvin "Ozzie" and Esther (Ruesch) Tipelt. She attended Medford schools and was a 1964 graduate of Medford Senior High School.

  She received her certification in clinical laboratory and x-ray techniques from the Northwest Institute of Medical Laboratory technique, Minneapolis, Minn., on Dec. 17, 1965. Janet was then employed with Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley, as a registered medical technician until 1969.

  Her marriage to Duane J. "Dewey" Frey, who survives, took place on June 7, 1960, at Community United Church of Christ, Medford. Shortly thereafter, she became employed as a registered medical technician with Memorial Health Center, Medford, a position she retained until her retirement due to ill health in 2003.

  Janet was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Medford; a former member and president of the Medford National Guard Ladies Auxiliary; and a former member of the American Association of Bioanalysts. She enjoyed making specialty cakes, cooking, baking, flowers, watching birds and spending time with her sister's family.

  Janet was an especially kind, caring and generous person who touched the lives of everyone she knew. She will be deeply missed by her extended family and numerous friends.

  Survivors besides her husband include two sons, a sister, a brother-in-law, two sisters- in-law; her mother-in-law; four nephews; four nieces; and many relatives and friends

  She was preceded in death by her mother, Esther, in 1989; her father, Ozzie, in 1995; and her father-in-law, John W. Frey, in 2004.

  Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Medford. The Rev. John Melke presided. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery II, Medford. Serving as pallbearers were her sons; three nephews; and a niece.

  The Hemer Funeral Home, Medford, assisted with arrangements.

  In lieu of flowers, her family requests that memorials be given in her name to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Medford.
